Nov. 20, 2008

Many thanks to St. Patrick for providing their building space to our collaborative efforts!

Please check here and in the bulletin for updates.

CCE

The middle school program on Wednesdays is now CCE only.

St. Patrick/St. Peter/Sacred Heart Collaborative CCE Schedule

Time                           Day     Grade Level
8:45-9:50 am               Sun.     1st-5th Grade
10:00-11:00 am           Sun.     Child care: 0-3 years
10:00-11:00 am           Sun.     Pre-K 4 and Kindergarten
11:15 am-12:30 pm     Sun      Pre-K 4-5th Grade
6:00-7:15 pm               Sun.     9th-12th Grade
6:00-7:15 pm              Wed.   6th-8th Grade

Since some grades have multiples meeting times, please choose one time slot and stick with it so that the teachers can be prepared for the correct number of students.

For those families still away from Galveston: If you are unable to return to Galveston, either temporarily or permanently, please look into CCE in your new locations so that your child (ren) do not miss out on their Catholic education.

Youth Night

The spiritual and social side of the middle school program has not been eliminated but moved to youth night.  Rather than the more formal atmosphere of CCE, the youth group provides an option for Catholic middle school and high school students to gather socially in the spirit of Christ.  Youth Night for junior high and senior high students is Monday evenings, 6 – 8 pm at St. Patrick.

RCIA

  • Sacred Heart will officially welcome our RCIA group on Dec. 7th at the 11:00 am Mass with the Rite of Welcoming.
  • This will also be out kick off for Breaking Open the Word.
  • Classes continue to be a collaborative effort between S. Patrick and Sacred Heart.

Sacraments

  • The tentative First Communion date is the first weekend of May.  We will most likely have First Communion as part of one or more of the regular weekend Masses.
  • Island-wide Confirmation for the teens will be Thursday, April 30th, 2009 at 7:00 pm, though I do not have a location for that yet.
  • Classes for both of these sacraments as well as for First Reconciliation will most likely not begin until after the new year.
  • A brief reminder, St. Peter, St. Patrick, and Sacred Heart all agree that a minimum of two years of religious education prior to the sacraments is reasonable to ensure literacy in the faith.
