Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

Welcome to the Catholic Church

RCIA is designed for:

  • ·        For you who are not Catholic and are seven years of age or older, baptized or not, and wish to become full, active, and participating members of the Catholic Church.

  • ·        For you baptized Catholic as infants who have received no further religious education or sacrament.

If you want to join the Catholic Church or if you were born Catholic and want to finish your sacraments, contact Ray Hertel, 281-703-1231 or
rayhertel@yahoo.com

Adult Education:

Before joining the Catholic Church, we ask that you have a basic understanding of what it means to be Catholic.  We provide you with the basic tenets of the faith through a series of weekly classes.

RCIA is also a great opportunity for learning the basics of the Catholic faith.  You who wish to attend classes as observers are welcome, whether Catholic or not.

If you want to join us in the learning about the Church, contact Ray Hertel, 281-703-1231 or rayhertel@yahoo.com

Community:

Becoming Catholic is not just about learning; it is also about community, family…and that is what Church really is.  The RCIA process provides the opportunity for you to enter into the community.  In the process of taking the classes, you will meet and get to know others in the parish.  RCIA provides an entry point into a deeper relationship with the parish and with the wider Catholic community.

The Sacraments:

The sacraments of initiation—baptism, confirmation, and first Communion—are celebrated at thee Easter Vigil Mass.  At this time, those participating in RCIA become full members of the Catholic Church.  Though bishops are the ordinary ministers of Confirmation, pastors may confer Confirmation at the Easter Vigil.

Through the RCIA process, the candidates are also prepared for the sacrament of reconciliation, that is, first confession
